Before you become a member we suggest that you visit us on a Sunday as "guest" and participate in the sailing race. We assure you it is safe and thoroughly enjoyable. It will cost approximately Rs 750/- per person (lunch included).
ENTRY for INDIANS: RMYC being located inside a high security area, a port entry pass is required to visit the club. Guest visitors who intend to participate in Sunday racing please contact our manager Mr. Ramesh +91 92821 07449 on any Thursday and give him your name, age and vehicle number (Please specify 2 or 4 wheeler ). If you have a driver, do give his details too. After speaking to Ramesh, please message him the details to avoid mistakes in the port entry pass. Carry a photo id card. Club Staff will be at Gate 7 between 9:30 am and 10:30 am with your entry pass.
Port entry rules for Foreigners have some more procedures to bide by, a conversation with Mr. Ramesh may help in this matter.
DRESS CODE: To protect from the sun, a cap and full sleeve shirt along with inexpensive footwear is recommended. Club provides life vest. A change of clothes is recommended.
HOW TO GET TO THE CLUB: RMYC is located inside Chennai Port Trust and entry is through Gate 7 of the Port. Keeping the marina beach to your right, cross War memorial, keep to the right. You will see on your right the Port Trust Office which has a huge globe on top. As you come closer, do not go down the underpass, but keep left and go above the under pass. You will cross RBI on your left. Look for signs leading to Gate 7 of Port.
Annex Member: Admission as Annex Member is open to persons interested in the sport of sailing. Such members need to be proposed and seconded by existing members.
As on date Admission fee is Rs. 100,000/- & Subscription is Rs. 500/- per month
Service membership: (Only for defence officers) is open and subsidized heavily.
The RMYC has reciprocal arrangements with its counterpart in Bombay. Sailors being a small community, travelling sailors are often hosted at most location where Club's are present.
